#1. A bad ass reptilian looking creature with huge wings that breathes some sort of element and can easily destroy towns.
#2. Something nerdy from a game like Dungeons and Dragons.
#3. A peaceful guardian of myth who watches over and occasionally protects parts of the world.
For many people, it is number 1 or 2. For me, it is both. Magic the Gathering is a trading card game that is a mix between DnD and playing cards. Yes, many people that play it can be classified as a "nerd", but what most people don't know is how many people play it and how the art looks. I first got into Magic when I was probably in 4th or 5th grade. What attracted me to the card game was simply its art.
I find it very hard to believe that when someone looks at that picture, they immediately think "nerd game". Yes. Although it can be nerdy, the art is from an imaginative world where there is chaos and wars. Cards like this pulled me in, and it is still a major factor that I am interested into the game. People who immediately reject certain things because of their appearance should take a few hours one day and try to learn from someone who has played for a long time. This goes for other games too, because despite it's nerdy and geeky first impression, I have found it to be a fun and interactive game, where many friends could be made.
P.S. If you didn't know, I consider myself a nerdy person, but if you didn't figure that out by now then there is something wrong with you.
